Enhancing freight forwarding operations

The facility offers reception, storage, blending, laboratory services and loading for producers of lead, copper and zinc.

         The Impala Logistics Container Yard in Manzanillo is about to commence operations that enhance freight forwarding services. Shipping lines, import and export customers will be provided with a safe location to store, maintain and repair their containers, to save on transportation time and costs. 

         Manzanillo already hasa long history of growth, not just in th eposrt of, but with related infrastructure that will build a long-term sustainable supplu chain for current customers. The facility aims to attract new import and export customers who are looking for a partner to assist with cargoes on the ground. 

         Many significant infrastructure improvements have been made. last July, the 42,000m2 state-of-the-art container yard was completed and can store 100,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually. Since the new yard faces the port, only 300 metres away, reducing transportation costs and emissions, it offers greater flexibility and time savings, which are essential to meet increased demand for container transportation.

     Additionally, a new shiploader will be operational within th eport by next year. The USD6 million investment improves capacity and gives customers peace of mind that their cargoes will receive front-of-the-line attention.

    Upgrades have also occurred in the last year to make Impala Manzanillo one of the safest and most environmentally responsible operators at the site. A USD3 million investment in a new laboratory reduces cross-contamination, improves air quality for employees and ensures gases are controlled to eliminate environmental impact. And an investment of USD 635,000 was made into solar panels on a 30,000 square foot roof – is saving 47 percent of the power consumption of the whole facility.
